Tennessee Flight Silver Continues Dominance

Lexington, KY.... Tennessee Flight Silver which is widely known over the past five years as one of the top five summer teams in the country continued it's dominance in summer basketball this past weekend by winning the Wildcat Memorial Day Classic in Lexington, Kentucky. Flight Silver season record has been pushed to 11-1 on the season will take the floor again in July and will end the season as always at the prestigious Nike Nationals. Flight Silver is lead this year by three USA Basketball U17 intivees, Kaleena Lewis (UCONN), Ariel Massengale, and Isabelle Harrison. Flight Silver coach / TN Flight club director Tom Insell said he is proud of how all the teams in the Flight program played this past weekend in Lexington and is not surprised that the Flight Silver won the championship. Insell went on to say that Flight Silver could be the most talented team in program history and feels they will be ready to bring home another Nike National Title in July. All Flight teams advanced out of pool play finishing in the top two in there respected pools over the weekend. Other Flight teams that played in Lexington were, Flight Navy, Flight Blue, Flight Soph, Flight Fresh, Flight 8th, and Flight Select. Insell closed by saying he feels the Flight program as a whole is as strong as any program in the country from top to bottom.

The Flight organization would like to say thanks to all the hard work the coaches in the program have put in during the month of April and May. Flight Director Tom Insell said the Flight program is where it is today because of the countless hours the coaching staff puts in with each team. Insell went on to say that he feels his staff from top to bottom is better than any other program in the country.




Massengale, Lewis, and Harrison Invited to tryout for USA U17

Shelbyville, TN.... Earlier this month USA Basketball sent invites out to 30 players from across the United States to come tryout for the USA U17 National Team. Flight Silver players Ariel Massengale, Kaleena Lewis, and Isabelle Harrison have been invited and will attend the U17 tryouts June 8-10 in Colorado Springs, CO. Massengale and Lewis both were invited and made the USA U16 team last season. Both players went on to start for the USA team in the FIBA games and lead USA to a Gold Medal. Harrison will be attending the trails for the first team due to not being invited out last year. Flight Director Tom Insell said this is the highest honor a player can recieve in high school. Insell went on to say that this speaks of the caliber of players that we have in the Flight program and feels that all three players have a great shot of making the team. All three players are ranked in the top 20 players in the country in the 2011 graduating class and Insell feels all three have a great shot of adding to the list of McDonald's All Americans from the Tennessee Flight program. Stay tuned to due to we will keep you up to date on how all three players do next week in Colorado Springs.

The U17 games are held in France July 16-24. Don't worry Flight fans due to they will be flying back in from France to suit back up for the Flight Silver July 28-31 in Augusta, GA at Nike Nationals.




Flight Silver Ronika Ransford and Stefanie Dolson 2010 McDonalds All - Americans
 
Tennessee Flight would like to congratulate 2009 Flight Silver players Ronika Ransford and Stefanie Dolson on being named to the 2010 McDonalds All - American game. Ransford and Dolson was apart of the Flight Silver team that finished the 2009 summer season ranked as the top travel team in the South and top 10 travel team in the Nation. Flight president / coach Tom Inse said he is very proud of Ransford and Dolson and he plans to be in Columbus for the game to support both. Insell went on to say that this is a prime example why the Flight program is one of the top in the country because players are giving the opportunity to play against the best players in the country and to prove they are worthy of being named a All-American. 



 


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 



Flight Teams to Play October 3 and 4

Flight will be back in action on October third and fourth in Murfreesboro, TN. On the third and morning of the fourth Flight will play in a team tournament at Middle Tennessee State University. When the team event ends on Sunday morning Flight players will stay and play in the Bluestar Individual Showcase at Middle Tennessee State University. Last year over 200 college coaches attend both events. Insell said this allows all Flight players a chance to showcase their skills in the fall and prepares the program for the summer ahead in 2010. Any interested athletes wanting to play with the Flight these two days need to contact Tom Insell at 931-205-2676 as soon as possible.

Flight Silver and Navy would like to congratulate all 20 Flight players that signed National Letters of Intent during the November 2008 NCAA Signing Period. Flight President Tom Insell said in a statement that this is what Flight basketball is all about helping players future their playing carers on the collegiate level. Insell went on to say that he looks for more Flight players to sign during the late signing period and this is exactly why players come to play in the Flight program so they can get the exposure it takes to get to the next level.
